Summary (Plain English)
We respect your privacy and have designed SEER Calculator to minimize data collection. Here's the short version:
- We don't collect personal data. No account required, no login, no email signup to use the calculator.
- All calculations happen in your browser. The numbers you enter into our calculator never leave your device. Everything is processed locally using JavaScript.
- Nothing is stored on our servers. We don't save your SEER ratings, electricity costs, or any other values you enter.
- We don't sell data. We have no data to sell because we don't collect it.
Information We Don't Collect
Unlike many websites, we specifically don't collect:
- Account information: No accounts exist on this site. You don't need to register or log in.
- Calculator inputs: Your SEER ratings, unit sizes, cooling hours, electricity rates, and calculation results are never transmitted to our servers.
- Personal identifying information: We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, or any other personal details to use the calculator.
- Financial information: We don't process payments or store financial data.
- Location data: We don't request or track your precise location.
Your calculator usage is entirely private. When you close your browser tab, all the data you entered disappears.
Information That May Be Collected
While we don't collect personal information, some limited technical data may be collected through standard web infrastructure:
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service provided by our hosting platform, to understand how visitors use our site. This typically includes:
- Pages visited and general navigation patterns
- Referring website (how you found us)
- Country or region (derived from IP address, not precise location)
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Browser type and version
This data is aggregated and anonymous. We cannot identify individual visitors from analytics data.
Server Logs
Our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information when you visit any webpage, including IP addresses and access times. These logs are used for security monitoring and are typically deleted automatically after a short retention period.
Cookies
SEER Calculator uses minimal cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. Any cookies present are essential for basic site functionality, such as remembering if you've dismissed a notice. You can configure your browser to reject cookies, and the calculator will still function normally.

If you choose to contact us via email at info@seercalculator.org, we use the information you provide solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not:

Our website contains links to external resources provided for your convenience and educational benefit. These include government agencies and industry organizations such as the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, AHRI, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, and others.
Each of these external websites has its own privacy policy and data practices, which are entirely separate from ours. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. Calculator Data
All calculations performed by the SEER Calculator are executed entirely client-side in your web browser using JavaScript. This means:
- No data transmission: The SEER ratings, unit sizes, electricity rates, cooling hours, and any other values you enter into the calculator are never sent to our servers or any third-party service.
- No server-side processing: All mathematical calculations happen locally on your device. There is no API call or server request involved in generating your results.
- No data storage: We do not store, log, or retain any of your calculator inputs or results. When you close or refresh the page, all entered data is gone.
- No tracking of calculations: We cannot see what values you enter, what results you receive, or how many calculations you perform.
This design ensures complete privacy for your HVAC calculations. You can verify this by using your browser's developer tools (Network tab) to confirm that no data is transmitted when you use the calculator.
Your Rights
Because we collect minimal data, there's very little personal information to manage. However:
- Email correspondence: If you've emailed us and would like your messages deleted, email us at info@seercalculator.org with your request.
- Cookies: You can clear cookies through your browser settings at any time.
- Analytics opt-out: Most browsers offer "Do Not Track" settings. You can also use browser extensions that block analytics scripts.
International Users (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Because SEER Calculator collects minimal data (no accounts, no personal information from calculator use), most of these rights are already satisfied by design.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Our lawful basis for processing any data we do collect (analytics, server logs) is legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the Service. For email correspondence, our lawful basis is your consent (you initiated the contact).

Children's Privacy
SEER Calculator is a general-purpose tool not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Since calculator data never leaves your browser, there's no database of user inputs to protect. For the limited data that does pass through our systems (email correspondence), we rely on industry-standard security practices, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.
